University policy limits OSURA trips, events

It’s a virtual world today. The impact of the coronavirus means curtailing some of our favorite OSURA events, such as day trips and special interest groups.

A recent memo from Acting President Bruce McPheron makes it clear that Ohio State only rarely allows activities where people attend in person. Those rare events also must follow university, local and state mandates.

For safety, health and wellness, OSURA will follow the university and Alumni Association guidelines. As Craig Little, director of alumni engagement, notes, no social occasion seems worth taking the risk. And face it, we are among the riskiest age group.

The Travel Committee has been valiantly trying to adjust to fluctuating conditions. Its members realize cancellations and postponements disappoint members who are eager to gather with friends. However, we believe events will be ever so much fun when we are safer.

In the meantime, please register for the Zoom meetings – the Member Appreciation on August 7 and the Annual Conference sessions September 30 and October 7 and 14. Other enjoyable dates are in the works.

Yours in continued health and safety,

Gemma McLuckie, vice president
