Lifetime Email Forwarding Services (LEFS) is shutting down 12/31/2024!

For those of you who are not aware, Ohio State email accounts will no longer be automatically forwarded to outside email services after December 31, 2024! This change will impact retirees, alumni and anyone who requested to participate in “lifetime email forwarding” after they separated from the university. This means that if you currently have friends or business who send email to your OSU email address (name.#@osu.edu) and it is automatically forwarded to your personal email account, you are going to be impacted by this change. That is, email sent to your name.#@osu/edu after December 31 will not be delivered and will bounce back to senders as undeliverable.

This adjustment will not impact emeritus faculty who log onto their OSU email account directly. It will only affect those to have their OSU email automatically forwarded to a personal account such as those provided by Gmail, Yahoo, Spectrum, Apple and more.

If you are a user of lifetime email forwarding you will need to reach out to any of your personal contacts or any banks, businesses or other entities who currently use your name.#@osu.edu email address and provide them with your personal address.

More information about this change is available. Most of us should have already received an email from the Ohio State Office of Technology and Digital Innovation addressing the rationale and implications of the discontinuation of Lifetime Email Forwarding with links to web information.
