OSURA Directory: Frequently Asked Questions
- Who has access to the OSURA online directory?
- Only active members of OSURA have access to this directory. Active members are all s those who have joined as lifetime members as well as those who are annual members, who are current in their dues.
- I am having trouble getting into the Directory; what do I do?
- The staff in the Alumni Association Engagement Center will be happy to help you. Call them at 800-762-5646.
- Will there be another printed OSURA Directory?
- At this time there are no plans to print another Directory. There are still copies of the Directory printed in 2019. If you would like a copy, email your request to osura.membership@gmail.com.
- What safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of my information?
- Ohio State takes considerable effort to protect your privacy and ensure that your information remains secure and safe. For detailed information see the link in the footer at the bottom of the OSURA Members Directory page.
- If I change my privacy settings from private to public will that make it easier for marketers to get my phone number and email address?
- Changing your settings to “public” should not make your information more available to marketers. Your information is not for sale to outside vendors. It is only available to members of OSURA. See the privacy policy link in the footer at the bottom of the OSURA Members Directory page for detailed information.
- In searching for another member, do I need to enter all the parameters on the search page including first and last name, city, state and zip?
- No. You only need to use one of the parameters. For example, if you are looking for Mark Twain, you can enter just Mark or just Twain. In fact, it is often more efficient to just enter one name and then select from the list of names in your search results.
- Can I search the Directory with nicknames?
- The search function requires exact spellings of member names. So for example, instead of “Tom,” use “Thomas.”
- I located a member but why is there is no email or phone number?
- The most likely reason is that the member you want to reach has not updated the privacy settings on their account yet. It is also possible that the individual has chosen not to share that information.
- My settings in the Directory are already set to “public.” How did that happen?
- The most likely reason is that you previously adjusted your privacy settings.
- I spend my winters in Florida and summers in Ohio. Can I have two addresses in the Directory?
- Yes. In the address box on your Information update page, click on the button below your existing address that reads “Add” then follow the instructions.
